Modularization changes how Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) plants are engineered, fabricated, transported, and commissioned. Its technical value depends on whether process requirements and construction constraints are resolved together. This paper reviews the relationship between LNG plant design and modular execution, focusing on feed treatment, liquefaction configuration, equipment integration, module boundaries, structural design, piping flexibility, safety, fabrication quality, and operational readiness. Peer-reviewed engineering research and conference papers provide the principal literature base, supported by relevant standards and institutional guidance. The review identifies interface control, early logistics definition, verified equipment data, and system-based completion as recurring requirements for successful implementation. Illustrative calculations explain how thermal contraction and transport acceleration can influence module design; they are not project design criteria. A global perspective considers climatic, geotechnical, fabrication, and workforce differences without assuming that one module arrangement suits every location. The central conclusion is that modularization should be developed as part of the plant architecture, with technical performance and lifecycle integrity taking precedence over maximizing offsite assembly.
