The power of earning and tracking loyalty value across geographies, store apps, and platforms is high, but velocity is precarious and costly. As the number of nodes increases, transaction difficulty increases. Centralized settlement systems cannot effectively maintain transaction integrity, and settlement issues such as double accrual, reconciliation drift, delayed settlement, and disputes further undermine customer trust. This paper presents a novel concept, the Scalable Loyalty Settlement Architecture (SLSA), that ensures transactions within distributed retail networks are not compromised while providing high throughput and low latency. It features a tokenized identity layer, an idempotent accrual engine, an orchestration unit for the settlement process to minimize the number of rounds required to achieve consensus using a quorum, and an append-only integrity ledger verified with a Merkle Tree. We introduce a Transaction Integrity Framework that abstracts capture, validation, deduplication, cryptographic commitment, consensus, and anchoring evidence on the ledger into stages that can be composed, with each stage producing verifiable proofs. Achieved by horizontally scaling the system, but not at the expense of consistency guarantees, via deterministic sharding. In a hypothetical multi-region retail society, experimental testing shows that settlement throughput is significantly higher than centralized and naive distributed baselines, reconciliation loss rates are lower, and disputes are resolved faster. Consistency/Availability, Complexity/Operations, Governance. We believe it's possible and cost-effective to create horizontally scalable settlements that prioritize integrity for large retail.
