With the rapid evolving of the digital threat landscape sophisticated attacks are being launched with malicious actors daily. Security frameworks such as COBIT 5 and ISO 27001 have been there for some since the earlier days of the internet hence they have evolved to support new technologies and defend against new threats. However there have been concern about the effectiveness of the security frameworks in regards to safeguarding the wireless networks against recent threats. Security frameworks such COBIT 5 and ISO 27001 variables cannot be mapped one to one into the administrative, Technical, Physical and monitoring and evaluations security controls. Moreover they are not role based. This paper presents an enhanced security framework which can be used to secure wireless networks and it is role-based meaning that organizations can simply assign responsibilities to employees based on it. The study adopted quantitative research design in which target population of the study was of 296 staff. Purposive, stratified and simple random sampling techniques were used to select the participants. Structured online questionnaires using google forms was used to collect data from a sample of 148 respondents. Multiple regression analysis was used to examine the effect of security controls on secure wireless network. From the results security controls influenced secure wireless network. The study recommends the implementation of an enhanced security framework to organizations using wireless network in order to safe guard their networks.
